Actually, my brother, you should read your Wesley more… Wesley was always a deeply sacramental priest and preacher. He spoke of the sacraments as a “converting ordinance” and gave them great respect, and identifying the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Wesley saw them as vital tools of conversion, not an afterthought which so many do now. That understanding that word and sacrament together bring people to God is a vital strand of my ministry and the philosophy of Blessed. The Gospel is Sacrament and the Sacrament is Gospel. The time and place for point-scoring is elsewhere. See http://www.revneal.org/Writings/WesMean.htm for a summary
I love John Wesley. Amazing. No frills, No emphasis on sacramental stuff, just pure faithful preaching of the Gospel. 10,000 people.
A testament to the Spiritual gift of stubbornness.
Great !
